110 women killed in Iran in one year

The Herena Organization announced that 110 women were killed in Iran between 25 November 2024 and 25 November 2025.

According to a report published by the human rights organization Herena, at least 110 women were killed in Iran during the one-year period in question. Herena stressed that this verified figure is far below the real rate of violence against women and femicides in the country.

In the same period, Herena recorded a total of 181 verified cases, 320 of which involved violations of women’s rights. The organization stated that these figures reflect only part of the reality, but nevertheless “clearly show the serious scale of violence against women in the country.”

In addition to femicides, Herena documented at least 93 cases of severe violence in Iran: 63 cases of rape and sexual assault, 11 cases of torture, 9 cases of domestic violence, 1 suicide attempt, and 1 case of self-immolation.

Herena also emphasized that due to traditional social structures, family pressure, and the lack of a safe mechanism to report violence in Iran, many cases of abuse and attacks against women go unrecorded.
