The Democratic Union Party (PYD) released a statement condemning the Syrian Transitional Government forces' attacks on the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsood and Ashrafiyah in Aleppo.
“While all Syrian and world peoples are hopeful that chaos and instability will end through dialogue, unity, and the participation of all segments in the construction of the new Syria, the Transitional Government wants to gain time for the transition period by disregarding all the agreements it has signed, particularly the April 1 agreement signed with the People's Council of the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyah neighborhoods,” the statement said.
The party emphasized that the transitional government's mindset exacerbates citizens' suffering and hinders the national dialogue process.
The statement noted that Turkey-affiliated armed groups within the Syrian Transitional Government blocked the roads leading to the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyah, imposed an embargo and continued their attacks on civilians who called for the lifting of the blockade.
The PYD stated that these attacks, along with the aggressions targeting Deir Hafir and the Tishrin Dam, are part of a plan to start a comprehensive war in Syria, commit massacres, and turn the country into ruins.
“We are fully confident that our people will foil all plots that target their unity, identity, and lives. The people of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyah, who have bravely fought against the attacks of ISIS, the Baath regime, and mercenaries affiliated with the occupying Turkish state, will not be left alone,” the statement underlined.
The party called on all Syrians and the international community to act with reason and responsibility, emphasizing the need to stand against sedition and civil war plans, to avoid falling into the traps of hatred, nationalism, and sectarianism, and to defend social solidarity.
Addressing the Transitional Government, the PYD called for an end to the attacks, the opening of roads and crossing points, and an end to rhetoric and practices that hinder internal peace: “Let us resolve issues through dialogue, not threats and weapons.”
