The PYD warned that provocations in Homs could lead to a deepening crisis and called on all parties to engage in internal dialogue.
The General Council of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) drew attention to the growing provocations in Syria and urged all sides to pursue internal dialogue. In a statement on the latest events in Homs, the party said it was deeply concerned.
The PYD stated that developments in Homs were the result of “an increase in deliberate provocations” and warned that the current course could lead to new conflicts. The statement emphasized that some parties were fueling social division instead of reducing tensions.
The party held the Syrian Transitional Government responsible for the failure to represent all components of Syrian society in political processes and for the declining trust between the parties and the government. The PYD said that the authorities were “encouraging tribal and sectarian conflict rather than ensuring peace,” and that the media was being used particularly to “spread hostility and hatred” against the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). It noted that this had led to public discontent and fears of internal conflict.
The statement also said that the transitional government was trying to block any negotiation process with the Autonomous Administration and was making attempts to halt the implementation of international decisions.
The PYD condemned all massacres, sectarian incitement, and hate speech, and announced its support especially for the peaceful actions of citizens along the Syrian coast who are continuing their protests to demand dignity and rights.
