The Press Center of the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria announced that, in cooperation with the Anti-Terror Forces (Hêzên Anti-Teror, HAT), nine mercenaries were detained in an operation east of Der ez-Zor, and weapons and ammunition belonging to the militants were seized.

The statement gave the following details: "As part of the national mission, our forces have undertaken to protect the security and stability of the community, and as a continuation of our tireless efforts to track down terrorist cells and dry up their resources wherever they are found, our special forces command HAT, in cooperation with our Asayish (internal security forces), carried out a high-quality security operation in the early morning hours of Wednesday, 1 October, in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor. The operation targeted hideouts of dangerous terrorists proven to have attempted terror attacks aimed at undermining the security and stability of our regions."

The statement added: "Conducted with high precision and professionalism, the operation resulted in the capture of nine terrorists operating in the area. Weapons and equipment they had prepared for attacks were also seized. Their arsenal included murder and sabotage tools, among them an anti-tank mine prepared to target specific objectives, and a sharp weapon indicating intent to use direct violence. In addition, two rifles and four ammunition magazines, as well as four communication devices ready for use to coordinate their operations and movements, were confiscated."

The statement continued: "As the General Command of the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria, we reiterate to our people our promise to continue the fight against terrorism with determination until the last cells are eliminated. We confirm that the security of these lands and the dignity of their people are our red line, and we affirm that we will respond with force commensurate with the justice of our cause and our right to live in security and peace to anyone who seeks to destroy them."
