A delegation from southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq), consisting of youth organizations from the Kurdistan Communist Party (KCP) and the Kurdistan Socialist Party (PASOK), arrived in Urfa on Monday. The delegation first visited the Urfa Provincial Organization of the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party).
The delegation then visited the village of Amara, where Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan was born. The meeting in Amara was attended by the Kurdish leader’s brother, Mehmet Öcalan, Halfeti Municipality Co-Mayors Saniye Bayram and Mehmet Karayılan, DEM Party Halfeti district co-chairs and administrators, as well as members of the DEM Party Urfa Youth Assembly.
During the meeting, assessments were made regarding national unity and the Peace and Democratic Society Process. Following a series of meetings, the delegation members will travel to Ankara to apply to the Ministry of Justice for a visit to Imrali and make a statement.
